To help slow the spread of COVID-19, the Ogden City Council is asking that the public temporarily limit attendance at public meetings and take advantage of online options for viewing council meetings and submitting public comment. To that end, general public comment will not be accepted during Council meetings beginning with the March 17 meeting.
As a result of the decision to limit public comment in meetings, the Council is expanding its electronic options for providing public input on meeting agenda items. Starting Tuesday, March 17, the public can submit comments by leaving a message on a new public comment line, 801-629-8158, or by completing a Public Comment Submission Form at ogdencity.com/publicinput. The Council will still accept in-person comments on items requiring a public hearing but encourages residents to use one of the available electronic options. Comments on agenda items that are received electronically will be made part of the meeting records.
The Council will also temporarily provide remote access to work sessions by offering a Zoom meeting option. Information regarding work session access will be shared through the Council’s social media platforms.
Council meetings will continue to be streamed online through Facebook and YouTube, but live comments made during the meeting on these platforms will not be committed to the official record.
“The health and safety of our residents is a top priority for Ogden City. But we want the public to feel their voice can be heard regardless of these temporary efforts to limit meeting attendance,” Council Chair Angela Choberka said. “We are taking proactive measures to slow the spread of the Coronavirus and ask that the public stay safe and take advantage of these remote communication options for expressing their thoughts and concerns.”
The Council will continue to closely monitor the situation relating to the virus and will return to the regular meeting format when it is appropriate.
The agenda for the March 17 has been amended to reflect these changes and can be viewed by clicking here.
