Indian Trail
The western portion of this popular high country trail follows the old path used
by the Indians to circumvent the narrow opening to Ogden Canyon during high water.
The trail offers outstanding views of the canyon, geologic formations, Ogden City,
and the Great Salt Lake. It winds high above the river for 4.2 miles through thick
stands of oak, spruce and fir trees. The trail offers views of the waterfall at
the mouth of the canyon. There is a small shelter at the 6,000-foot level.
The west trail head is located at the east end of 22nd street. Follow the
signs to the left from the parking lot. The east end trail head is located at
the Smokey Bear sign in Ogden Canyon. Exercise caution around the steep slopes
and cliffs on the trails mid-section. This is a high country trail, be prepared.
