Streetlights are an important part of providing vehicular and pedestrian safety throughout the city and are typically installed at intersections in order to help prevent accidents and increase public safety.
The Public Ways and Parks Division works as a liaison between the residents of Ogden City and Rocky Mountain Power in regards to street lights. Once a week, a supervisor turns in a list to RMP with the address and description of all the problems that have been called in. RMP then turns it over to their service department and it is handled at their earliest convenience. If you would like to report a problem, please call Public Ways & Parks.
Ogden City requires new developers to place streetlights inside their development as outlined in the 2008 Edition of the Ogden City Engineer Standards and Amendments. For exiting neighborhoods, requests for additional street lighting can be made for mid-block lights if the requested location is at least 300 feet away from an existing street light and if all the residents within 150 feet of the proposed location agree with the placement. There is a brief application and petition that must be filled out completely and turned in to the city.
To notify the city of a problem in your area, or for more information regarding street light installation, please contact the Public Ways & Parks or submit a request through the Mayor's Action Center.
