Ogden City, the Hub of Northern Utah, is the county seat of Weber County, Utah's sixth largest city and home to Weber State University (enrollment: 16,000 students). Ogden City is situated at the base of the Wasatch Mountains and located 35 miles north of Salt Lake City. Ogden is easily accessible via automobile and truck transportation on I-15 and I-84, rail service by Union Pacific, private and chartered service from Ogden-Hinckley Airport, and commercial service from Salt Lake International Airport. The City has a full-time Mayor who exercises executive authority and a seven-member city council that exercises legislative authority. Ogden City has 650 full-time employees.

CRIME RATE

Ogden’s crime rate is the lowest it has been in almost 30 years and is continuing to go down! This is the result of a very professional, dedicated police force that has been working together with the people of this community to solve problems.

RECREATION & CULTURE

City Parks & Recreation:

43 parks on approximately 300 acres, including 25 ball diamonds, 11 soccer fields, 11 basketball courts, 21 tennis courts, 24 playgrounds, and 32 picnic shelters. 4,500 participants in youth recreation programs.

City Golf Courses:

2 golf courses which include El Monte--9 holes on 80 acres, and Mount Ogden--18 holes on 140 acres.

David Eccles

The David Eccles Conference Center utilizes nearly 70,000 square feet. Included are two ballrooms that

Conference Center:

cover 19,000 square feet. There are also available breakout rooms and catering facilities.

Dee Events Center:

12,000 seat events center at Weber State University.

Fine Arts:

Utah Symphony and Ballet West perform at the Browning Center located on the Weber State University campus. Utah Musical Theater performs at the newly renovated Peery’s Egyptian Theater.

Ice Sheet:

Indoor 20,000 square-foot ice sheet with seating capacity for 2000.

Lindquist Field:

Ogden City baseball field with a seating capacity of 3000 with proposed expansion to seat 5000. This newly constructed field is home to the Ogden City Raptors baseball team.

Ogden River Parkway:

3.1 miles of improved trail from Washington Boulevard to the mouth of Ogden Canyon, with 6 additional miles underway. Included along the trail is Eccles Dinosaur Park.

Ogden Trails Network:

Approximately 16 miles of improved hiking trails on 6 featured trail routes, including the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Future expansion north of Ogden Canyon is currently under proposal. Additional hiking trails are located on private land.

Ogden Nature Center:

Approximately 160 acre wildlife refuge with ponds, wetlands, and over 10,000 trees. There are approximately 1.5 miles of trail throughout the Nature Center. Educational programs and workshops are taught at the visitor center.

Ogden Union Station:

Historic railway station housing the Browning Firearms Museum, Browning Kimball Car Collection, Railroad Museum, Gem and Mineral Display, M.S. Browning Theater, Myra Powell Gallery, Natural History Museum, and the Spencer S. and Hope F. Eccles Railroad Center.

Ski Resorts:

Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, and Wolf Mountain ski resorts--all located within approximately 20 miles of the city.

Museums

Children?s Treehouse Museum, Union Station, Utah State Railroad Museum, Browning/Kimball Car Museum, Browning Firearms Museum, Natural History Museum, and Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Museum at Dinosaur Park

Weber State Athletics:

Division 1 AA Football, Division 1 Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer.

DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

This is an exciting time for downtown. There is over 120 acres of redevelopment that has either recently been complete, currently under construction or is being proposed in downtown. This unprecedented activity will result in thousands of jobs in our urban core, new shops, restaurants, and residential units.
